Art
Jennifer Ewing works across disciplines of painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Since 2005 she has explored the Spirit Boat theme as a metaphor for personal transformation and moving through life. Since then she has created many paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations of boats featuring this metaphor; these include large ships that pull trash into the sea as well as smaller vessels made out of recycled glass, mirrors and paper.
At present, Jennifer Ewing is creating a series of paintings inspired by her travels to Iceland. Through art she uses her paintings to help people regain power, release grief and find greater purpose. Her artwork serves as a form of spiritual meditation; using intuition and personal stories as foundational elements in each painting’s composition.
Jennifer Ewing has a passion for helping young artists, acting as both mentor and educator. She has taught art at an elementary school near her, hosted community workshops in painting, writing and drawing techniques as well as founded two companies that employ art-inspired right brain thinking for organizational training purposes.
As well as her artistic pursuits, she boasts an extensive background in dramaturgy. Recently, she served as dramaturg for Book-It Repertory’s adaptation of Jane Eyre at Book-It Repertory Theatre which opened this summer, as well as Theatre22’s new play festival The Construction Zone by providing dramaturgy services for their production of Downstairs by Theresa Rebeck.
